Layout Blocks

Build reusable sections with the page builder and use them elsewhere on the site, such as a custom footer.

Layout Blocks are sections you build once with WPBakery Page Builder and reuse around the site: as a custom footer built from elements instead of the usual footer widgets, or inside any page with the Layout Block element.

Where to find it: Go to Layout BlocksAdd New.

Creating a Layout Block

Add a new block

Go to Layout BlocksAdd New. Give it a title (used only in the admin, to identify it later) and open it with WPBakery, the same as any page.

Build it with the page builder

Add rows, columns and elements the same way you would on a page. As a footer, the block's content is wrapped in a boxed container, so use a Fullwidth Section row inside it for an edge-to-edge section.

Publish it

A block only becomes available to choose as a footer, or in the Layout Block element, once it's Published. Drafts and pending blocks don't appear in either list.

FooterSelectDefault: Footer widgets and copyrighthb_footer_block

Use the regular footer widgets and copyright bar, or any published Layout Block. Go to HighendHighend OptionsLayout Settings, open the Footer Layout tab, and choose it from Footer.

It can also be set per page: in the page's Highend Settings box, open the Footer tab and set Footer to a specific block, or back to Use Highend Options Settings to follow the sitewide choice. See Page settings.

A block footer replaces the footer widgets and copyright bar

When a page's footer is a Layout Block, the Footer Layout settings (widget columns, copyright line, backlink) don't show at all. The block becomes the entire footer.

Showing a block inside a page

To show the same content on several pages, such as contact details or opening hours, add the Layout Block element to each page and choose the block. Edit the block once and every page that uses it shows the change.

Inside a page, the block takes the width of its column and isn't wrapped in the boxed container a footer block uses.

Two elements added in this version suit a footer especially well:

  • Fit Text: scales text to exactly fill the width of its container, good for a large closing line.
  • Scrolling Text: a looping marquee of text, good for a moving line of links, credits, or a tagline.
