Updating Highend
How theme updates work, what your license has to do with it, and how to update safely.
Highend checks for updates the same way WordPress checks any theme, so new versions show up in your dashboard automatically. You need an active license to actually install one.
Automatic updates
Highend piggybacks on WordPress's normal theme-update check. When WordPress looks for updates, Highend asks HB-Themes' update server whether a newer version exists for your installed version. If one does, it shows up like any other update: on DashboardUpdates and on AppearanceThemes, with an Update now link.
Without an active license, Highend still tells WordPress a new version exists, so you'll see the notification, but the download itself is blocked. Activate your license on the Theme License page to actually install it.
The About page also surfaces this directly: when a newer version is available, its version badge becomes an Update to {version} link. It takes you straight to your license page if you're not licensed yet, or to the update screen if you are.
Update manually
If you'd rather not update from the dashboard, download the latest HighendWP.zip from your account and install it the same way you installed the theme the first time. See Installation. Uploading a new version over an existing install overwrites the theme's files with the new ones.
Any changes you've made directly to Highend's PHP or template files are overwritten on update, whether you update automatically or manually. Put customizations in a child theme instead, so they survive updates. See Child themes.
Update bundled plugins
Theme updates and plugin updates are separate. WPBakery, Slider Revolution, LayerSlider, and Essential Grid update from HighendInstall Plugins. Click Check updates to refresh what's available, then Update on any plugin that has one. This also needs an active license, the same as installing them the first time. WooCommerce, Contact Form 7, and Social Snap update like any other WordPress.org plugin, from Plugins or from the same Install Plugins screen. See Install plugins.
